As an artist, I started to feel disconnected from the larger community, and I wanted to organize an event that was focused on artists and closer aligned to the beliefs and progressive values the community holds dear. I partnered with a local art-house cinema and created a series of late-night festivals that combined a welcoming and open community with a sense of greater good — raising $1,000 for the National Endowment for the Arts.
