Year—round tax ally
To help launch the partnership, I was tasked with integrating Watson into H&R Block’s in-person Tax experience by the beginning of the 2017 tax year and fuse Watson into their DIY product. I led IBM Design Thinking workshops to create an experience roadmap to achieve the end goal of integrating Watson into their DIY product and ultimately, having Watson do taxes.
During the pitch with H&R Block I created many design artifacts and deliverables to support the project. These are conceptual designs meant to inspire the client and present the art of the possible: a year-round tax ally, Watson plug-ins that help you gather your receipts, in-store tax data interactions. I also provided guidance to design teams at H&R Block working with Watson.
The most significant challenge and opportunity for H&R Block with Watson is to integrate Watson throughout their existing do-it-yourself tax product. I designed an experience that focuses on users’ pain points and leverages Watson and its understanding of the tax code to help the user get better assistance and more tax deductions.
